sunday, may 3rd: yetman family farm greenhouse
Above is a photo of the greenhouse's current set for Motherhood minis.
yetman family farm
address:
2995 S Estes St, Lakewood, CO 80227
The sessions are quick and back to back, so please plan to arrive at least 5 minutes early! This farm is a family residence and can be easy to miss from the road. The most reliable way for you to know you've arrived is to look for:
The Red Mailbox: This is the primary marker on the west side of South Estes Street.
The White Fencing: The long driveway is lined with white fencing, which stands out against the surrounding greenery.
The Hidden Look: From the street, it looks like a private residential driveway. Once you turn in, the path opens up into the 4-acre farm shaded by massive cottonwood trees.
Please park in front of the blue barn. Please do not go into the barn or the animal areas. My assistant will meet you in front of the blue barn unless I tell you differently as it gets closer.
If you mentioned in your questionaire that you'd like some assistance with what to wear, please watch the video shown below. It explains a program I offer to my clients called "Style and Select" Once you've watched the video, click the link below the video called "PLAN OUR OUTFITS!" and it will take you to my Style and Select website. You can shop online for new outfits or you can upload outfits you already own and it will help you piece things together. Once you feel like you have a plan, you can screenshot it and send it to me via text (785-218-6061) if you'd like! Always willing to help out! If you plan on wearing shoes for the photos, don't forget to coordinate those. :)
Tips:
Coordinate: Choose a color palette of 3-4 complementary colors rather than matching exactly.
Layering: Add texture with sweaters, blazers, or scarves, which work well in studio lighting. Also, patterns are awesome as long as they're not huge or tiny... and mixed in.
Comfort: Ensure clothing allows for movement and sitting on the floor.
To use Style and Select, click the button under the video and you will need to enter the styling code : MOM26.
what to wear
Yetman Family Farm Greenhouse is a beautiful outdoors location on a picturesque farm. The greenhouse is made of glass and has been set up with the flowers as pictured above and below. It is surrounded by huge cottonwood trees on a four-acre flower farm. I tend to tell my clients to wear neutrals, as they photograph best. Here are some images with color ideas that ChatGPT created for me. Because there are so many beautiful colors of flowers, I think you could get away with color at this location. Stay away from anything that would compete with the backdrop. I even think a black with a pattern like the bottom right could look amazing! Decide if you'd prefer soft/light/airy photos.. or more of a deeper/moodier theme.
WHAT NOT TO WEAR
Logos and Graphics: Avoid clothing with words, cartoon characters, or large brand logos, as they distract from the faces and intimacy of the shot.
Neon and Harsh Colors: Bright neon, hot pink, or lime green reflects unflattering color casts onto skin. Bright red can also have a similar effect.
Matching Outfits: Identical outfits (e.g., all white shirts/blue jeans) can make families look blended; try coordinating colors instead.
Too Much White: solid white can be hard to expose properly and often appear blue. Opt for creams/beige/ or off white.
Busy Patterns: Small stripes or busy patterns can create a warped effect (moiré) on camera.
Shiny golf shirts: They end up looking wonky photographed, shiny fabrics like satin or polyester should be avoided because they highlight wrinkles.
Distracting Accessories: Avoid digital watches, hair ties on wrists, and items in pockets. AKA PHONES, WALLETS, AND KEYS. Chunky jewelry is best to avoid as well.
Uncomfortable Clothing: If it is itchy or doesn't fit well, it will show in your posture and expressions. Aim for comfort.
Hair/Makeup: Avoid super tight updos and harsh, heavy makeup.
Footwear: Avoid dirty/scuffed shoes or bright-colored/multicolored athletic shoes. Generally, bare feet or coordinating neutrals are best in a studio.
FAQ
Can we have extra time if we need it?
Unfortunately, mini sessions are booked back to back to accommodate several families and there is no wiggle room.
Should we wear shoes or no?
Totally up to you! If you like a more relaxed vibe, opt for no shoes.
When do I pay the remainder of my session?
The remaining payment is due the day of your session.
My preference of payment is via Venmo, @-Laura-Charlie-Miller. You will not receive your images until I receive your full payment.
You are welcome to pay me via credit card with a link that will send to you after the session, or you can pay cash/check/venmo. You obviously do not have to tip but I will always welcome it if you think I did a great job!
What happens if we miss our session?
If for some reason you are late to your session or something comes up, I will do my best to reschedule with you and find a time that works for both us. Please just text/call/email me and we can work together to figure something out!
